The CX239 is the latest version of our most popular road cycling shoe. This new evolution comes with an integrated tongue to the medial panel of the upper for a firmer foot hold, ensuring that power is maximized into forward momentum through improved stability.
It also has a fiberglass reinforced internal heel counter, creating a more stable heel hold, and has more spacing between the two BOA® dials to give greater zone adjustment to the forefoot area. It takes one of our favorite cycling shoes to a whole new level of comfort, fit and performance, with modern styling as standard.
CX/TX Competition Last
With a profile specifically designed for very high-cadence riding & higher pressure, our Competition last features a more curved profile than the Sport last. The Competition Last features a larger toe box and a tighter heel cup than the Comfort Plus Last and comes with slightly more overall volume than our Sport Last. It’s an exceptionally secure cycling shoe, while having a slightly wider ball girth to allow the foot to expand under high pedaling pressures.
Outsole
Lake Competition 100% Carbon Fiber Sole. Available in 3-hole cleat pattern. This allows for greater cleat positioning, ensuring effective pedaling action and improved rider comfort. Our 100% carbon fiber sole creates a comfortable, lightweight, stylish, and high-performance cycling shoe that’s built for performance and comfort in equal measure.
Upper
Our latest high-performance road cycling shoe comes with a choice of either a full-grain water resistant and breathable Ecco Premium leather or a Clarino Microfiber and mesh with Outlast heel lining.
The upper is stylishly modern and sleek, has minimal stitching and is form fitting to give you a glove like feel that over time creates a perfect match to your foot. The protective heel panel and rubber toe bumper help protect the upper from those regular scuffs and scratches. It also has an Outlast temperature regulating heel, maintaining a breathable, durable & firm grip to your foot, alongside a tongue lining for extra comfort when the shoe is adjusted with the BOA® closure system.
Closure
BOA® Fit System Li2 Dials. The Li2 dial is the most advanced platform in cycling, offering a precise and micro-adjustable fit in both directions and designed to resist abrasion.
Closure and comfort come down to several details, which is why here at Lake, we take time to design cycling shoes that we believe to have the best comfort and closure systems available. The dual BOA® fit system on the CX239 has wider spacing than previous models, allowing for greater adjustability, especially in the forefoot area. It gives increased comfort and stability across the whole foot. The new Lake CX239 is a high-performance cycling shoe that will give you the security, stability and confidence to ride all day long, in our legendary Lake comfort.

ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL.
Lake Shoes
Lake's mission is to make the best fitting and most comfortable high performance cycling shoes in the world.
Lake is one of a small few brands who focuses on the foot first crafting a comprehensive range of shoes to fit all foot shapes and riding styles.
This theory goes beyond materials & construction methods to the actual foot form (the “last”) around which a shoe is built to determine whether a shoe meets a particular need. Instead of trying to make one or two foot shapes fit every rider, we have created a variety lasts to meet most riders needs.
4 Step Fitting Guide
Fitting Guide

Step 1
Measuring Your Foot
Tips for accurate foot measurement
- Take your foot measurement in a standing position while wearing your cycling socks.
- Please obtain a 3 digit millimeter measurement.
- example: 267mm or 26.7cm will provide the correct amount of data.
- Two digit measurements, like "26cm", does not provide enough data to determine size.
Step-by-step
- Step 1: Trace your foot onto a sheet of paper. After you trace your foot take a ruler and make a line to mark the furthest point on all four sides as shown below.
- Step 2: Length measurement (Points 1 to 2 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the longest distance from heel to longest toe (first or second toe).
- Step 3: Width measurement (Points 3 to 4 as shown below). Use a millimeter ruler to get the measurement of the widest distance of foot from side to side.
- Step 4: Repeat steps for other foot as your feet may be different sizes. Typically you will want shoes that accommodate your largest foot the most comfortably.
- *We recommend adding 5mm onto your length measurement before checking the size chart.

Step 4 Review Shoe Lasts
MTB/Gravel Lasts
Shoe lasts are like a template used by shoe manufacturers to ensure consistency and accuracy in shoe production. Lake Cycling has a variety of shoe lasts built for a variety of conditions. Read more below on each.
MX Sport
This last features a larger, more roomy toe-box than our Comfort last while providing increased foot control through the heel & saddle of the foot. The resulting fit is designed for aggressive riding while remaining comfortable to wear all day. Ideal for couriers, adventure cyclists & anyone else who wears their cycling shoes for long periods of time.
MX Competition
Featuring a larger toe box & tighter heel than the Comfort last and with slightly more overall volume than the Sport last. Exceptionally secure for hard riding/racing with enough room in the toe box to prevent binding when running up inclines or negotiating a hike-a-bike section. Designed for performance riding & racing.
MX race
Featuring a slightly narrower toe box & tighter heel than the Competition last and less overall volume than the Sport last. Designed for a slimmer fit & most suitable for racing.
MX Comfort Plus
Our Comfort last is designed to provide foot control while pedaling without restricting the foot during off-bike activities. With a feel similar to traditional athletic shoes, this is an excellent choice for commuting, on & off trail sport rides & gentle terrain trekking.
Road/Triathlon Lasts
CX/TX Sport
The higher cadence & longer ride times which characterize road cycling require excellent foot control to avoid hot-spots & numbness. With a much closer fit than any of our off-road lasts, our Sport last cradles the foot securely to prevent any unwanted movement. This last features a precisely fitted toe-box, high arch & mid width ball girth.
CX/TX Competition
With a profile specifically designed for very high-cadence riding & higher pressure, our Competition last features a more curved profile than the Sport last. The main differences include increased toe pitch & heel lift, a tighter heel & a slightly wider ball girth to allow the foot to expand under high pedaling pressures.
CX Race
Featuring a slightly narrower toe box & tighter heel than the Competition last and less overall volume than the Sport last. Designed for very high-cadence riding & higher pressure and a slimmer fit.
CX/TX Comfort Plus
The Comfort Plus last has the most generous forefoot platform of all of our CX lasts. This last will accommodate a multitude of foot shapes and allow for toe splaying. Made for those riders who struggle to find an unrestricted shoe for the shape of their feet.
Winter Lasts
Winter
With a much wider & taller toe box than our traditional lasts, the Winter last allows the foot to maintain proper circulation even when thicker socks are worn. Our winter last is the standard for winter cycling footwear.
Winter Extreme
This last features our largest & tallest toe-box for ultimate insulation in extreme winter conditions. The Winter Extreme last allows the foot to maintain proper circulation even when thicker socks are worn. What's unique about our last is the cycling specific heel, instep and arch shape that still maintain proper conforming fit to keep your foot securely in place while riding or walking without the need to over tighten. Our Winter Extreme last continues to forge ahead to comfort and warmth for winter cycling footwear.
